New RO-ILS Education Released: The latest RO-ILS Aggregate Report themes include vertebral body alignment, HDR treatment length and dwell times, and patient identification and communication. Case Study 03 describes how a typo error resulted in the planning target volume being assigned a density of zero that wasn't discovered until after the first fraction.

Since its launch in June 2014, more than 500 facilities across the country have joined RO-ILS: Radiation Oncology Incident Learning System® to contribute patient safety data to the only medical specialty society-sponsored radiation oncology incident learning system. The mission of RO-ILS is to facilitate safer and higher quality care in radiation oncology by providing a mechanism for shared learning in a secure and non-punitive environment. Participation in RO-ILS is free thanks to the generous financial support of ASTRO, AAPM, Varian, ASRT, AAMD and Sun Nuclear Corporation. RO-ILS provides U.S.-based practices access to a secure, web-based portal and the ability to send data to a federally listed Patient Safety Organization (PSO). For questions regarding the program, please contact RO-ILS staff
