ADROP Statement on COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic is impacting all areas of medicine, including training and education. As Program Directors, we have experienced the intense pressure affecting our colleagues in practice, the effects on our residents in training, as well as students interested in the field. 2020 ADROP Annual Meeting Cancelled
Since the ASTRO Annual Meeting is now fully virtual, we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 ADROP Annual Meeting scheduled to take place during ASTRO’s Annual Meeting. We will resume ADROP events in 2021 starting with the ADROP Retreat taking place in the Spring at the ASTRO Headquarters. If travel restrictions have not been lifted, we will explore taking the 2021 ADROP Retreat virtual. More details will follow later in the year.
ASTRO Annual Meeting is Going Virtual!
The ASTRO Board of Directors has made the important decision to transition the live meeting in Miami to an immersive and interactive virtual meeting that will occur over the same dates, October 25-28. The 2020 ASTRO Annual Meeting—Global Oncology: Radiation Therapy In A Changing World—will include a complete Annual Meeting experience from the Presidential Symposium, to the Plenary Session and Clinical Trials; from Education and Scientific Sessions, to an interactive Exhibit Hall; innovative networking opportunities and so much more. New Changes to ADROP Membership Eligibility Requirements and Executive Committee Term
The ADROP membership voted to make the following changes during the 2019 ADROP Annual Meeting that took place in Chicago on September 14, 2019.
- Membership Eligibility Requirements - ADROP membership eligibility requirements will now allow ASTRO members in the United States and Canada who are program directors, assistant program directors and associate program directors to become ADROP members. Only program directors will have voting privileges, but in the program director’s absence an alternate may vote on their behalf. However, no one single institution will have more than one vote. Previously, only program directors were eligible for ADROP membership. Individuals interested in ADROP membership should contact Nicki Froats.
- Executive Committee Term - The ADROP Executive Committee is comprised of the President, Vice President and Immediate Past President. Officers will now serve in each of these positions for a one-year term with a maximum of three years in office. Officers may not be reelected. Previously, officers served for a maximum of six years in office, two years in each position.
